Our Cavoodles are a mixed breed of a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Poodle. We call this F1 first generation. We offer toy sizes in our breeding program. One of the main reasons of crossbreeding is to reduce the risk of genetic disorders that can be found in most purebred dogs, while still retaining the desirable traits of both breed.
Why do we prefer to breed only first generation?
We love the type of coat which are produced when we breed 2 purebreds together. With the Toy Cavoodles we breed we are we are very fortunate, that to date, none of our dogs actually shed. We believe beautiful dogs are imperative and by using our own home bred dogs to produce first generation Cavoodles, we have the most beautiful puppies and dogs over and over and over again. We also love having two types of coats the wispy, wavy the beach swept look and the tighter curl more poodles look, (we don’t get too many of these).
We understand that by producing first generation every time, we won’t have lots and lots of white in with the red. But, that’s ok as we have all the other benefits to the first generation.
Knowing and trusting your breeder is the key to obtaining a perfect family dog for you. We hear of so many clients who are very disappoint with their “Cavoodle” Best to see the parents and watch them as they grow, then you really can tell the Mother and Father.
Our understanding of the genetics
F1 is a 50/50 or half cavalier and half poodle
F2 (Cavoodle x Cavoodle)
F1B = Cavoodle and a poodle mix – F1B is 75% cavalier or poodle (mostly poodle). They can have a narrower frame longer nose more triangular higher set ear and longer leg.
F2b Cavoodle is when a F2 Cavoodle is bred with a pure poodle or Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
A 3rd generations Cavoodle is – a 2nd generation Cavoodle crossed with a 2nd generation Cavoodle.
