Cavoodles come in many different colours, they nearly all fade with time and sun. Fading is caused by the poodle gene.
Red
Red is expressed through the E-Locus allele. All dogs that carry ee-locus have a “yellow” coat that can range from dark ruby red, to a medium peachy apricot to a light golden cream. We refer to our darkest puppies with ee locus as “red” which can sometimes be called ruby.
Cream puppies
These are darker than a white but lighter than an apricot. They can also be referred to as golden or tan. Similar to the cream poodle, the coat clears/lightens over time. Like the poodle, the ears and tail often stay a shade darker than the body.
Apricot puppies
Part of the yellow/red family. Our apricots are lighter at birth than the dark reds and have a peachy, apricot colour to their coat. Similar to the apricot poodle, the puppy coat starts off darker but lightens over time. Like the poodle, the ears and tail often stay a shade darker.
Black Cavoodles
A black coat will be solid black from birth. We produce solid blacks and back abstracts with white markings.
Black Sable
Sable puppies can have a black or red base. The sable comes from a Poodle that carries a copy of Dominant Black K-Locus, kbr. When bred to a Black and Tan or Tri Cavalier King Charles, we can sometimes have Black Sable Puppies. Our sable puppies are usually born black and clear (a kind of lightening) to almost a silver, with age. Sable puppies often have tan highlights or tickling through their coat from birth. Some black puppies may only have a small amount of sable on their legs and around their eyebrows and ears. One hair follicle can have 3+ shades, so even a haircut can make them change colour. These puppies have unique and interesting coats, as their colour usually lightens or darkens as they grow into adulthood.
