Our pups are nearly always between 3 and 8 kilos. All our pups regardless of their size are classed as TOYS, as both the Cavalier and the toy poodle are in the TOY group of dogs.
In our breeding programme the mother is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, bred and tested for genetic defects to ensure you get the best pup possible. We would never use a Toy Poodle for a mother because they are simply too small to mate with a male Cavalier!!!
We feel this is an unwise mating and not fair and unsafe to the Toy Poodle. The father of our puppies is always a Toy Poodle, and all our Red Toy Poodles are under 3 kilos. We even have one that is 1.8 kilos.
Our puppies come in small and medium sizes. The mum is always a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, which is the biggest of the toy breeds.
The Toy Poodle, is also a toy breed, so in reality, that makes all of our pups toy size. However, just to complicate things, Cavaliers can come in three different sizes: small, medium, and large. If we use one of our bigger girls, one weighing 9 kilos, then the puppies will be around 7 kilos by mating with a small under-3-kilo Toy Poodle.
This, however, works for us, and we can judge the size and type the pup will grow into. Some of our families prefer a larger style of dog.
Our breeding program involves knowing just what our Cavoodles will grow up to be like in size and coat type. We have our own “SBT Cavoodle type;” however:-
There are basically three types of Cavoodles
Toy or very small Cavoodles
These are known as Toy-Size Cavoodles and are usually between 2.5 and under 4 kilos.
A Miniature Cavoodle
It is usually from a large style of Cavalier up to 10 kilos and a Miniature Poodle. The average Miniature Poodle weighs under 9 kilos. These puppies usually grow to be under 10 kilos, but can be a bit bigger.
A Large or Standard Cavoodle
Then you have the large, which is anything above. Most people will get a Groodle if they are after a big non-shedding dog, a cross between a Golden Retriever and a Standard Poodle.
Cavoodles SBT
